A person with curly gray hair wearing glasses and a blue shirt, standing in front of sewing equipment and thread spools.

Sue began her education in design by completing a Foundation degree in Art and Design at Brighton, Polytechnic. It was here she learnt about art history, colour theory, drawing and found her passion for painting. This was later complimented by obtaining a BA (Hons) in Interiors, Textiles and Surface Design.

During the 80’s Sue trained in Textile technology, achieving a qualification in Textile Design. It was during this time she became fascinated with Jacquard weaving.

After graduating she successfully secured a role in London, landing her dream job of designing Jacquard woven fabrics, creating intricate and premium textiles for brands such as Chanel and high-end corporate merchandise.

Sue, Co-founder & Director

Sue moved to Alexander furnishings, in the West-end of London. This is where the basis of her Interior Design career blossomed. Working on many projects in and around the West end of London, Sue provided high-end soft furnishings to many clients with prestigious properties.

Following Sue’s success she was headhunted to implement a curtain department within an already established bespoke furniture company, located in High Street Kensington, London. Sue successfully introduced and developed the interior design service within the company, offering colour schemes, curtains, blinds and other soft furnishings.

With a firm foundation within the Interiors industry Sue was confident to setup her own business.

In the early 90’s Sue founded the Curtain Gallery, based in North London. For many years Sue ran a successful consultancy in London before switching the city to the rolling hills of Devon, when she relocated her young family to the South West of England.

During the relocation it was the perfect time to rebrand, as the business had grown far beyond just curtains and so Sue Scammell Interiors was founded. recently acquired by IDPS (Interior Design and Property Solutions Ltd).

In the early 2000’s Sue set up an in-house workshop, this enabled the team to continue to offer not only bespoke products to the highest standard but gave the facility and ability to address complex design solutions.

All products of this nature, still to this day, are made-to-measure and manufactured by hand using traditional methods for IDPS.

We have had the pleasure of working with many wonderful clients over the years, who have kindly provided glowing testimonials. Read more here.

The Interiors focused business provides Turnkey application services for residential and commercial projects, as well as contractor co-ordination and source/supply services.
